Wor

I thought i must explain that WOR is a geordie name for OUR meaning wor tommy is our tommy.

Now  that you understand THE ACCENT I HAVE A LITTLE JOKE FOR YOU ALL.

Geordie and his marra Tucker Johnson had a big win on the pools. So they decided to go on a World Cruise. After a week at sea, the Captain called the Purser into his cabin to ask what influential people were on board, so he could invite them to his table. "Sir", said the Purser, "we have four film stars, three M.P.'s and two strange gentlemen from the North, who seem to be very wealthy". The Captain bade him to go round with invitations. Knocking on Geordie's cabin door, he was greeted by "Howay in Bonny Lad". When he entered; there was Geordie and Tucker, feet on the table, four bottles of Broon Ale, eating fish and chips. The Purser saluted, "Begging your pardon gentlemen", he said, "The Captains compliments. He requests your company at his table tonight. "Ye must be joking", says Geordie, "Ye divvent think Tuckers and me's gan te spend aal this money to eat with the bloody crew".

A Bird & His Friends

This is a tale of Wor Tommy  - as told by his mum "Cockymoll" - Yvonne Tilbury.

In the beginning.

Hello all.
I am a complete budgie novice. Never intended to buy a budgie but it was one of those love at first sight in a pet shop times, budgies have never caught my eye but for some reason this lad (I think he's a boy) did and had to come home with me.
I am totally smitten. He has been here less than a week and already jumps onto my hand/finger in the cage, give me kisses through the bars. I feel he is still too flighty to be allowed out of the cage yet.

Could anyone please tell me what his colouration is please. Ive tried looking it up but cannot find anything which fits him?

Ive had Tommy for 2wks now and have him sitting on my hand in the cage every day.
Is it the right time to try him flying free, or should i wait longer? Go for it Cockymoll.

Wor Tommy the apple of my eye

He did it, not shy my boy
Only problem was, he kept flying into the mirror so i had to cover it. He flew everywhere but the poor lad was knackered i could see him panting, so when he landed on the mink i offered my finger and he hopped on, and i put him in his cage, he is fast asleep as i type.

What a beautiful placid little budgie Wor Tommy looks

I think we should call this the second beginning

Is it normal..

For a budgie to attack a dog?
And its only poor Boo, none of the other dogs, he is properly going for his face all of the time, he has the poor pup terrified.
But then again he has now started to land on my head or nose for the first time ever, is he trying to do that with the pup?

Or do i have a psychotic budgie?

Thing is though, instead of trying and flying away, he is going back and forth, back and forth just a few inches, a flurry of feathers and a whippet backing off.
I am afraid Boo will take offence and snap at him, i never allow him out of the cage unsupervised, and only when the dogs are quiet and sleeping, but he is really pushing his luck.

On a lighter note i am over the moon he has started to land on me, even if it was my nose at one stage He is also now coming to my finger when i call for him.
I am loving all of this, no need for a TV when you have a budgie

Look out dogs.

I dont know if this is normal for a budgie, but Tommy seems to have a thing about Boo.
Repeatedly landed on Boo's toy and if Boo dared moved he dive bombed him

He is still the best budgie in the world though , and is trying very hard to talk.

Infatuated.

Just how obssessed am i likely to get.
Ive made rope ladders for him, have various assortments of seeds and grasses growing in the spare bedroom. Hunt high and low on the farm for weeds and bring home pockets of wild grass seed heads. Have become manic about doors and windows being shut, and the guard up at the fire incase he goes up the chimney
Conversations with friends and loved ones start and end with Tommy tales.
Ive now glued a branch to the top on my PC monitor for Wor Tommy to stand on

Playing with the big boys.

I think Tommy is sick of Boo not standing still long enough to land on him so he's now sussing out the others.

If i can only train him to search for and destroy fleas, it will save me a fortune in flea control

Could this be peace for the dogs?

Doing my head in!
Doing the dishes tonight and could hear an unusual noise. Everytime i turned the tap off to hear it properly it stopped! Tap back on, washing dishes and noise started again...ear to the tap to see if that was it, nope not the tap. Turned tap off it stopped again. This happened about 5 times.
Then finally sussed it, Tommy is now making a totally different noise than ever before, higher pitched with other bits mixed in.
I knew i had heard the noise before, but could'nt quite place it. Then when it was driving me up the wall, i realised.
His little plastic mirror with a bell....its a perfect imitation of it, the tinkle of the bell and the noise of the plastic moving.
So now i have constant wolf whistling and the bells, the bells.
Is it cruel to tape a budgies beak together

As per usual, Tommy thinks he owns this new dog!

Unfortunately Tommy is not one to let things lie....puppy still has to be taught a lesson, puppy is not the boss, Tommy is.
Untill Tommy stops his quest for world domination, im gonna have to keep a close eye on puppy/budgie contact untill puppy is old enough to be trusted!

Why do the dogs let wor tommy away with it?
I can only think think its because they know NO means NO. With working dogs they have to be able to work with ferrets, BOP and other dogs and to ignore peoples pet cats and game birds. So i instill it from day one.
Ive always purposely introduced all different kinds of animals to the dogs and touch wood none of them have suffered an early grave YET!
Boo gets his first taste of being locked in the chicken run this week...lol.

I live in a cottage on a farm . I would never leave the dogs alone with Tommy, not that i dont trust them....i dont trust Tommy

The first ever time.

I'm listening to music on the PC, Tommy is sat on top of the monitor, and he has started to head bang to a certain song, he's never ever done this before, sooo funny He's really excited, chirping away flying back and forth to the perch on top of the monitor and head banging to himself in the mirror...god i love this bird...lol.
